Grand Theatre, Poznan – stage manager system

and sound system, room acoustics

 

One of the most important elements affecting the operation of theatrical and opera facilities is the stage manager system.

The stage manager system allows to manage the movement of artists on stage and in the curtain, monitor and listen to the stage action, communicate with the producers and technical staff, summon artists to the stage and broadcast messages to the audience.

The main modules of the stage manager system are

  • wired inspector system intercom desks operated by the stage manager, conductor and stage managers,
  • the main modules of the stage manager system are: wire intercom desks for the stage manager, conductor and stage managers, wireless intercom sets for mobile technical support,
  • a public address system in the dressing rooms and the technical part of the building integrated with the Voice Evacuation System controlled directly from the stage manager’s desk
  • monitoring and listening to the stage action carried out by the stage manager system,
  • audio and visual messages for the audience are controlled directly from the stage manager’s desk.

In addition to the main functions described above, the stage manager system installed at the Grand Theater in Poznan enables the cooperation of the main stage, the Drabowicz Chamber Hall and the rehearsal room, the so-called Malarnia.

Such high functionality of the stage manager system is possible due to the use of a digital stage manager matrix equipped with a number of control inputs and outputs.

Apart from the stage manager system, Pracownia Akustyczna Kozłowski at the Grand Theater was also responsible for

  • the design of the sound reinforcement system for the main stage and the auditorium,
  • design of the DSO system for the entire facility,
  • reconstruction of stage managers’ cabins,
  • stage, auditorium and orchestra pit room acoustics.

In connection with the renovation of the auditorium, the Acoustics Laboratory conducted acoustic measurements and developed recommendations regarding the renovation of the auditorium. Control acoustic measurements carried out after control acoustic measurements carried out after the renovation showed that it was possible to improve reverberation time characteristics and increase speech intelligibility.
